Background

Marie has a personal interest in the natural therapies and takes a holistic view of emotional wellbeing. A focus for Marie in therapy is to help her clients to eliminate their baggage barriers and nurture a sense of who they are so they can live their lives purposefully. Her passion is to support people to reach their full potential by helping them build cognitive resilience. She helps people identify those pesky negative thought patterns that can get in the way of feeling good. Essentially, she helps to deactivate out-of-date defence mechanisms that are energy robbers. In doing so, people get to achieve their goals. They get to embrace a stronger sense of themselves and be more present in their lives. This can leave her clients feeling energised and balanced. And who wouldn’t want more of that!

Marie is trained under the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model. She has been in private practice since 2004 and draws on evidence based strategies to treat a range of emotional imbalances. She also explores the use of motivational strategies to help individuals change their unhealthy habits and behaviours. Marie is particularly interested in working with busy women to help them balance life challenges so they reach their potential without compromising their identity. She understands too well how the stresses of work, family, and relationships can leave women feeling drained, dissatisfied, and rundown.

She has a degree in the Behavioural Sciences (Psychology) with Honours, is a member of the Australian Psychological Society’s Clinical College, and is a registered Psychologist. She has a long history in human resources, training, occupational rehabilitation, and health psychology at a leading general hospital. Marie completed a Doctorate in Health Psychology at La Trobe University, where she worked as a Psychology Tutor. Her doctoral thesis explored motivation and health behaviour change. She has also completed additional training through Deakin University to provide Clinical Psychology Services through Medicare. This means her clients may be eligible for a higher rebate with a GP referral under a Mental Health Care Plan.
